Property Home Insurance Underwriter

Michigan Basic Property Insurance Association is seeking an Underwriter to join its team. The position title is an Underwriting Processing Representative I. The candidate will assist with determining policy eligibility and whether to accept, modify or decline risks. The position will require processing and decisions concerning underwriting inspections on various lines of business, applications, endorsements, and cancellations. All candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision and have excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills. Knowledge of policies, procedures and systems will be needed in order to assist with customer inquiries made electronically, via phone or mail. Analytical thinking and application are necessary along with oral and written communication skills. Preferred courses; AICPCU/IIA, property home insurance claims adjusting background or experience is a plus. Candidates must have a minimum of four years working as an Underwriter in Property Insurance or as a Property Claims Adjuster, or training acquired through college courses, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
