Description
The primary function of this position is to analyze information and credit reports to evaluate degree of risk of
business loans and prepare recommendations for the AVP of Business Services, Chief Executive Officer and
Business Loan Committee. A key component of this service is to identify the financial needs of the member and
recommend an appropriate credit union solution. In addition, assist with the daily operations for the Business
Services division.
Essential Functions
- Review loan packages to insure all financial information has been obtained with appropriate signatures and analyze credit information to make a general assessment of member's creditworthiness.
- Conduct in-depth review of balance sheet and profit and loss statements presented by applicants for large commercial loans or lines of credit, and evaluate.
- Assess liquidity, quality of management, market position, and overall business climate to estimate future profitability of business.
- Complete industry research.
- Analyze and review appraisals of real estate used as loan collateral.
- Complete risk rating analysis to determine appropriate risk ratings on existing credits and annual reviews.
- Compile and structure loan package for presentation. Prepare report-summarizing findings.
- Monitor payment practices to protect credit union from bad debt losses.
- Spread financial statements.
- Complete financial analysis on financial statements and tax returns to include annual reviews.
- Assist AVP of Business Services and Chief Executive Officer in preparing Credit Proposal Summaries.
- Work with accountants to obtain and/or review financial information.
- Monitor portfolio to insure all financials, aging reports and other required documents are up to date.
- Monitor portfolio to include tracking for annual financial reviews.
- Assist in preparing closing loan documents.
- Create opportunities for expanding existing business member relationship by cross selling product and determining additional products and services for both the member's business and personal needs.
- Participate in Community events.
- Serve as Notary
Requirements
- Requires education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.
- Requires minimum of five years of related experience and or training in services at a bank, credit union, and/or other financial institution. Corporate, industry training, or continuing education on the business market, small business target market, etc. desirable.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license & insurance. Duties are performed in an office environment but also may require travel to other credit union facilities to provide assistance and/or attend meetings, training and networking events. Duties may also require travel to business meetings within the local community and out of the state.
- Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills essential to maintain courteousness, tactfulness, and diplomacy with the Board of Directors, members, management, a diverse group of callers, visitors, and vendors.
- Ability to read and understand business financial statements.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to members and employees.
- Strong organizational ability, versatility, time management, with ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
- Proficient in math and calculations related to lending (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.)
- Work requires proficient computer skills (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook) and the ability to learn new software applications. Must have ability to operate standard office equipment such as copier and calculator. (Testing prior to interview)
- The ability to have considerable discretion and judgment when working with confidential and sensitive information.
