SUMMARY -Perform ultrasound examinations as ordered by referring physicians and report the preliminary findings to the Radiologists.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Review personal information for accuracy , patient information ,referring physician, referral/script prior to performing the examination
- Explain procedure to patient and answer any questions regarding the exam procedure
- Perform a high quality ultrasound studies as ordered by the referring physicians' orders
- Review images with radiologists when necessary
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and Corporate Compliance regulations
- Provide accurate written technical interpretation to Radiologist
- Maintain exam rooms, which may include stocking with supplies
- Maintain work area and equipment QC checklist
- Travel to SJRA offices as necessary
- Punctuality and regular attendance
- All other duties as assigned
- 80-85% of shift standing scanning patients
- Repetitive motion using transducers
- Position requires lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping and twisting, assisting patients on and off examination table
- Patient contact
- Assist patients on and off exam tables as indicated
- Potential exposure for any communicable disease
- Potential exposure to blood and body fluids
- Contact with coworkers, patients and their family members, physicians, referring physicians and their office staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
- RDMS required
- RVT - (must acquire within 1 year from date of hire)
- Two years experience as Ultrasound Technologist preferred
- Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
- Proficient computer skills
- Infection control practices
- Knowledge of pathology
- Knowledge of image interpretation
- High level disinfectant procedures
Physical Demands of the Position - Position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling and reaching during scheduled shift. Assist patients on and off exam tables.
Working Conditions - Indoor office setting with daily patient contact. There is the potential of exposure to blood and other body fluids.
