Job Summary:

Atlanta Women’s Healthcare Specialists is seeking Full-time Ultrasound Sonographer to join our OB/GYN practice. The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for the daily performance of diagnostic ultrasounds, and must perform high-quality scans and be able to adequately meet the needs of the practice physicians. Must be RDMS certified.


Time: 4 days/wk


Competitive compensation available dependent on candidate experience.


Reports to: Imaging Manager.


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Service: Maximize utilization of Ultrasound services

  • Preparing for diagnostic tests
  • Set up ultrasound machine for diagnostic test
  • View patient chart for previous studies and pertinent information
  • Input appropriate charges ensuring medical necessity
  • Inform nurse or provider of completion of exams
  • Ensure physician needs are met to increase resource utilization
  • Provide sonogram and written summary of technical findings to physician for use in medical diagnosis.
  • Ensure protocols and standards are up to date for accreditation
  • Perform clerical duties, such as scheduling exams or special procedures, keeping records, or archiving computerized images

Service: Ensure Customer Satisfaction

  • Perform diagnostic tests in a timely manner
  • Escort patient to appropriate waiting area
  • Explain procedures & answer patient questions
  • Have patient undress appropriately for test & perform appropriate ultrasound procedure
  • Assess need for additional follow up exams
  • Notify ordering physician of abnormal exams before patient leaves the office
  • Ensure documentation is obtained
  • Provide superior service to ensure customer satisfaction to both patients and providers
  • Observe and care for patients throughout examinations to ensure their safety and comfort.

Quality: Exam Room Maintenance

  • Clean and maintain exam room and equipment
  • Maintain stock of supplies, stock linens and maintain rooms in a neat and orderly manner
  • Ensure all imaging equipment are up to date with preventative maintenance

Quality: Appointment Efficiency and Volume

  • Maximizing volume and appointment efficiency through work-ins and communicating.
  • Maintain availability in schedule to meet patient needs.
Requirements:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of office policies and procedures to accurately answer questions from patients.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, Microsoft Office, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge and correct usage of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge and application of proper sonography techniques.
  • Ability to navigate and effectively use EMR. Knowledge and experience with Centricity EMR system is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to work efficiently while also maintaining accuracy in sonograms.
  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate in writing, over the telephone, and in person with physicians, office staff, and patients.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team and promote a positive work environment.
  • Ability to listen and understand information and ideas and adjust actions accordingly.
  • Ability to comply with all facility policies, procedures and practices.
  • Ability to follow directions/instructions from supervisor.
  • Skilled in properly using and maintaining ultrasound equipment.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients, and the public.
  • Skilled in organization, attention to detail, and task prioritization.
  • Skilled in ability to exercise independent judgement and ability to proactively look for ways to help people.
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Skilled in understanding patient needs to provide exceptional customer service.


Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of AMA approved Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound or Sonography program
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with OB/GYN certification
  • ARDMS registered
  • Current BLS certification
  • 2-3 years of experience in an OB/GYN practice.
  • 2-3 years of OB/GYN Ultrasound experience.


Physical Requirements:

  • Equal amount of standing and sitting throughout the workday.
  • Frequently operates ultrasound machinery and must have full range of body motions and hand dexterity.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and transport up to 25 pounds at a time short distances.
