Job Summary and Qualifications
The Ultrasound Technologist (sonographer) performs diagnostic procedures utilizing a background in anatomy, physiology, physics and instrumentation to provide technical information to aid the physician. The sonographer will demonstrate and maintain technical skills needed to perform ultrasound procedures on the population(s) served by the department and may include abdominal, OB/GYN, venous Doppler, small parts, pediatrics (where applicable) and invasive exams. In addition, the sonographer will maintain department supplies and equipment. He/she participates in the quality control of the ultrasound department.
What qualifications you will need:
Must have and maintain ONE of the following within the timeframes below – A. American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) i. RDMS- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer ii. RDCS- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer iii. RVT- Registered Vascular Technologist iv. BR- Registered Diagnostic Breast Sonographer – only if obtained prior to 6/30/2010 B. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT (S) C. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT (VS) D. Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RVS) E. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT (BS) only if obtained prior to 6/30/2010 New Hires with experience: Must have within 6 months of hire date. New Hires and New Grads - (graduated in the last 12 months): Must have within 18 months of hire date. Hires prior to October 1, 2011 of Methodist Hospital: Must obtain registry/certification by July 1, 2012. Hires prior to October 1, 2011 of Methodist Specialty & Transplant, Metropolitan Methodist, Northeast Methodist, Methodist Texsan, Methodist Stone Oak or Methodist Ambulatory Surgery Hospitals: Must obtain registry by October 1, 2012.
- Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Methodist Boerne Emergency Center opened in 2008. The facility was the first 24/7 freestanding emergency center in South and Central Texas. It includes 15 private treatment rooms.
