Position Description:UI/UX Researcher
Our high-performing software development team seeks a UI/UX Researcher in support of a high-profile application used across the entire Federal government and by millions of users.
Objective
- Support team of developers and communications professionals in developing and implementing tools and processes for gathering and assessing user feedback.

Responsibilities
- Ensure teams solve problems effectively by leading usability testing, user feedback sessions, and related research (UX Architect, ICF) with a focus on “rapid[] formative testing” (User Researcher, Judge) and qualitative analysis
- Collaborate with product manager and UI/UX lead to identify priority user experience research questions and create plans for developing user-driven insights and enhancements (Modified from UX Researcher, TEKsystems)
- Develop and execute “methodologies to test competing design options, validate and refine those options through iterative usability feedback, and ensure high levels of user satisfaction and acceptance (UX Researcher, TEKsystems)
- Manage recruitment and scheduling of qualified candidates... Engage and communicate with user participants (UI/UX Researcher, Pinnacle). Manage the research participant experience …and protect their personal/private data. (User Researcher, Judge)
- Ensure appropriate participant compliance with protocol, document test session issues (from UI/UX Researcher, Pinnacle)
- Manage data including, cleaning, coding/categorizing, transferring data from session notes, (modified from UI/UX Researcher, Pinnacle)
- Contribute to client and stakeholder management by communicating [] insights grounded in data, advocating for users, and clarifying the rationale of the research process. (UX Architect, ICF)
Required Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- 1+ years of experience facilitating user interviews, as well as creating research plans, moderator guides, personas, and recommendation reports. (UX Architect, ICF)
- 1+ years of experience in research ethics and best practices for human subjects to protect participants and control bias, including informed consent, personally identifiable information, NDAs, and related concepts. (UX Architect, ICF)
- 1+ years of understanding of usability and accessibility including heuristic and expert methods. (UX Architect, ICF)
- High attention to detail & great note taking skills (UI/UX Researcher, Pinnacle)
- Strong data collection and analysis skills to be self-sufficient in generating, analyzing and presenting results from quantitative & qualitative research, and an ability to translate complex analyses into straightforward recommendations. (UX Researcher, TEKsystems)
- Ability to carry multiple projects simultaneously, either by leading or supporting. (UX Researcher, TEKsystems)
- Ability to “research, understand, and communicate user outcomes effectively. (UX Architect, ICF)
- Ability to design usability tests, facilitate test sessions and analyze usability data. Proficiency with remote usability testing tools. (UX Researcher, TEKsystems)

Helpful Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Experience working “independently and collaboratively with tight deadlines, and multi-task efficiently in high volume, fast paced settings. (UX Researcher, TEKsystems)
- Experience assessing “Web Accessibility principles” for Section 508 compliance and familiarity with WCAG 2.0. (UX Researcher, TEKsystems)
