Job Description
The Utah State Correctional Facility is looking for a qualified Support Services Coordinator I/UA Lab TechThis position prepares test set-ups, performs operational support tasks including sample and receiving, and assists in performing tests. May also assist in administering drug testing and interpreting the results using SYVA (emit) equipment.
Principal Duties
As a UA Lab Tech you will:
- Perform analysis and interpret results.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis by preparing media, solutions, and reagents, etc.
- Store and dispose of various samples and/or hazardous materials using prescribed methods.
- Clean, sterilize and or disinfect areas and/or equipment.
- Enter data into a computer system and retrieve, correct, or delete previously entered data.
- Maintain accurate records and logs.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate and adjust specialized equipment.
- Keep detailed inventory of reagents and calibrators, ordering new stock when needed.
- Evaluate test results, make recommendations, communicate test findings and compile reports.
- Contract Monitoring.

- is comfortable working inside a Correctional Facility
- is self-sufficient needing little to no supervision
- understands laboratory techniques and safety practices
- is familiar with State or agency-specific software application program(s)
- can review and/or edit documents for accuracy and completeness
- can enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in either written or electronic form
- can deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
- is able to find, gather and collect information or data
- can maintain and/or repair tools and equipment
- is able to use cleaning agents, products and equipment
