TVS Dance Part-Time Jazz Instructor

Position Description:
Trinity Valley School is seeking a personable individual to join the TVS Dance instructional team in August 2023 as a part-time Jazz Instructor. The ideal candidate will have a high energy level and will love to interact with children in grades 1-12. The Jazz Instructor is a part-time employee that reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs. Hours are flexible and will be scheduled in collaboration with the rest of the TVS Dance instructional team and the Director of Auxiliary Programs. The Jazz Instructor can expect to teach approximately 4 hours per week in the TVS Dance Studio, in addition to planning time and assistance with the end-of-semester performances.
The Jazz Instructor will:

• provide a safe and healthy environment for dancers through constant visual supervision;
• plan and provide dancers with developmentally appropriate activities;
• know the names and ages of all participating children;
• treat each child with dignity and respect;
• use approved behavior management techniques when handling a child's inappropriate actions;
• maintain confidentiality of children, parents, and staff;
• establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships among colleagues in TVS Dance by functioning as a cooperative member of the team;
• represent the TVS Mission and Auxiliary Programs Vision through his / her actions;
• teach one class period per week in the Level 4 course (grades 9-12), one Level 3 after-school program per week (grades 5-8), and one Levels 1-2 combined after-school program per week (grades 1-4);
• assist in the planning and execution of the end-of-semester performances (December and April); and
• help upkeep the School facilities used by TVS Dance.

Auxiliary Programs / TVS Dance at Trinity Valley School:
In keeping with the mission and philosophy of Trinity Valley School, our Auxiliary Programs exist to develop our students' wide constructive interests by expanding and enriching their academic, creative, and athletic horizons. TVS Auxiliary Programs aim to develop upstanding and empathetic leaders by building authentic partnerships with the Fort Worth community, creating meaningful opportunities for TVS faculty and students to learn and serve, and co-constructing solutions to needs in the community.
Specifically, TVS Dance provides training to students in grades PreK-12 in three primary styles: Ballet, Jazz, and Hip Hop.

• "PreK Dance" and "Kinder Dance" are broad introductory programs.
• Levels 1-2 in each dance style provide focused instruction to students in grades 1-4.
• Level 3 in Ballet and Jazz provide appropriate group and individualized training to students in grades 5-8.
• Level 4 is represented by the Upper School Dance Course, which is open to dancers in all styles.
• Level 5 is represented by the competitive TVS Dance Performance Company.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
The ideal candidate will:

• demonstrate keen observation and listening skills, especially with regard to children's needs;
• have consistent availability to work afternoons;
• possess a Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent;
• demonstrate skill in the Jazz style of dance;
• have experience teaching in educational dance settings; and
• be able to assist in emergency procedures.
