We have a fantastic opportunity for a TV & Showbiz Reporter to play a vital role in our growing newsroom, sourcing and writing industry-leading stories on all things celebrity and TV in the US.

Reach Plc is the UK’s largest commercial news publisher. We’re home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News.

Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle - all targeted at US audiences.

What will the role involve?
You will generate and cover day to day celebrity and TV news, with great pictures and engaging video to drive traffic, ensuring that the focus is always on the site's most-searchable stories.

You will deliver a fast turnaround on stories across the US and around the world and bring in exclusive stories that set us apart from our rivals. You will use your PR contacts to pull in exclusive interviews and news stories that will deliver a richness of content to the site while delivering a mix of breaking news, exclusives and feature stories. All while ensuring that every piece of content is researched and published in accordance with the Editor’s Code of practice.

Shift Patterns & Working Location
This is an office based role working from our New York office, we are therefore open to candidates based in or commutable to New York. Please note in order to be suitable for this role you must be eligible to work in the US.

There are a range of shift patterns for this position, as listed below:

• 7:00am - 3:00pm EST
• 10:00am - 6:00pm EST
• 3:00pm - 11:00pm EST
• 6.00pm - 2.00am EST

Any shifts ending after 9:00pm EST will have the flexibility to be completed remotely.
A level of flexibility is required in this role, as shifts are open to last minute changes as a result of current news affairs. Weekend shifts will also be required.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with passion for what they do and the drive to discover new stories that will resonate with and engage our audience. You will be an experienced reporter with in-depth knowledge of media law and a strong track record of Showbiz and/or TV reporting experience while understanding what works for a digital audience. You will have a fantastic eye for detail and have a keen interest in the developments of the TV/showbiz world.

You have first rate editing, writing and subbing skills, and enjoy the test of working to tight deadlines. You’re flexible, inquisitive and are on the pulse of what makes a great story! Experience of working in a digital newsroom and SEO would be beneficial.
