Math Tutor
Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Category 5
Reports to:Director of the OC Learning Center
Starting salary $20 per hour commensurate with experience, flexible schedule (perfect for college students, stay at home parents, retirees), remote and in person hours available.
Classification: Academic school year, part-time
Bachelor's Degree preferred .Looking for highly-motivated individuals who have taken college level courses in all levels of math . Excellent project management skills, strong verbal communication, ability to work well with others in a group as well as independently, flexibility and adaptability are a must. We are looking for outstanding Christian role models who want to help middle and high school students achieve their best.
General
Oaks Christian is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals to assist in our various academic support programs, including small group and individual tutoring. These individuals will work directly with the Director of the Learning Center to help train and tutor students in various subjects during the school day, in the afternoons and/or in the evenings. Some weekends may be required prior to final exams. Tutors will also partner with the academic deans, the director of the academic success program, and teachers to assist a select group of high school and middle school students. Individuals hired will be paid on an hourly basis. In person and virtual tutoring sessions are offered through the Learning Center.
- Primary Duties
- Role of the tutor with students:
- Teach organizational skills
- Train students to use their student planner and the OCS Learning Management System as a daily tool
- Teach efficient study skills including note-taking skills, flash-cards , study guides, review with teachers
- Connect students to their teachers during office hours
- Teach time management and best use of "open" periods
- Provide accountability to turning in assignments consistently and on time
- Offer tutoring in multiple subject areas
- One-on-one tutoring, small group tutoring, workshops, review sessions
- Communicate effectively with parents on a frequent basis
- Maintain a disciplined learning environment
