Tutor - Helping Children (Training Provided)

Aspire Vision Care in Round Rock is looking for a friendly and energetic individual to join our team. We are seeking a self-motivated individual, who is able to multi-task since this position requires many duties. Positive attitude and a willingness to learn are a must. Will work with children and adults with visually related learning problems. The ability to establish rapport with patients in a positive, upbeat, motivational, and empathic manner is essential. This is very enjoyable and satisfying work. Starting pay at $17/hr.

No experience necessary. We will train the right person.

Early childhood development and/or teaching experience helpful. Professional or volunteer experience in education, rehabilitation desirable, and parenting a plus. Permanent full-time. Position details:

· Experience and certifications in the optometric field are helpful but not required.

· Paperless office so candidate must be efficient and accurate using a computer

· Full-time position; Monday through Thursday. (3 Day Weekends!)

· Starting pay between $17 and $20 per hour, based on experience

· Hours: Monday - Thursday 7:00am – 6:00pm - 40 hours per week

Chief duties:

· Plan and carry out therapeutic activities, one-on-one, with children and adult of all ages under the guidance of a Board-Certified Developmental Optometrist

· Motivate and encourage patients while performing these therapeutic activities

· Observe the patient throughout the activity and make notes of these observations

· Record the outcome of the therapeutic activities using an electronic medical software

· Develop and teach a home support activity plan to the patients, or parents if the patient is a child

· Perform select testing on patients under the direction of the Board-Certified Developmental Optometrist

· Clean and maintain all equipment used in the therapy room. Keep your individual work area organized and clean.

· Maintain inventory of vision therapy equipment

· Participate in weekly staff meetings and weekly therapist meetings

· Participate in various educational opportunities throughout the year

A Vision Therapist works with a Developmental Optometrist to direct and guide patients in therapeutic activities prescribed by the doctor for the treatment of visual dysfunctions. The patients may be suffering from academic, developmental, physical, and/or emotional impairments due to these visual dysfunctions. The Vision Therapist prepares equipment for treatment activities, instructs, motivates, evaluates, and monitors patient's performance on these activities, measures performance according to prescribed rules, and records data, signs and symptoms in patient's chart. Other duties may include cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic and therapy instruments and materials, instructing, assisting, and motivating patients and families in the accomplishment of home support activities, sharing notable progress milestones with the patient or parents, writing curriculum materials and instruction sheets, and miscellaneous clerical duties for the clinic. Familiarity and experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the broad field of educational therapies is desirable. The ability to establish rapport with patients in a positive, upbeat, motivational, and empathetic manner is essential.'
