H & H XPRESS is a veteran and woman-owned small business located at 914 N. Dallas Avenue, Lancaster, Texas 75146. H & H XPRESS is seeking a highly motivated and safe-minded qualified and assertive applicant to fill our CDL Instructor position. This full-time CDL Instructor's position is perfect for a Class A driver seeking to change positions from driving on the road to instructing others how to do it. The selected individuals will be responsible for giving safety briefings to students and inform them of the code of conduct when in the yard and truck, as well as preparing students for Pre-Trip, Behind-the-Wheel Skills, and Road Driving portions of their exam.
Qualifications:
- High School or GED required
- Must have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for at least 3 years and in good standing with no recent violations or restrictions is required
- Must provide an updated Driving Record upon request
- Must be available to work 5-days a week from 08:00 to 17:00
- Must be able to stand for long periods in both indoor and outdoor settings where weather conditions vary
- Must have a fundamental knowledge of computer systems and the operation of word processors, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, e-mails, etc.
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 form
- You will be required to present acceptable and original documents to prove your identity and authorization to work in the United States. Documents need to be presented no later than the third day of employment.
- Background Checks: A criminal history background check will be required for consideration for this position.
- EXPERIENCE: Min 3 to 5 years work experience in the field of truck driving required
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Possess the ability to work in a diverse work environment an possess leadership and or supervisory abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population
- The selected candidate will demonstrate the ability to motivate students in a learning-centered environment
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline
- Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods
- Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them of their progress in the course
- Complete documentation including grades, reports, maintenance logs, etc., as required by the supervisor
- Train student drivers to help them acquire the necessary skills to become a licensed commercial driver
- Provide in-person instruction daily to students
- Conduct demonstrations of driving operations to students
- Evaluate student drivers on a regular basis to determine when they are ready to progress from the classroom to the road and ensure student drivers know how to perform well when driving on the road
- Ensure student drivers possess a basic knowledge when dealing with situations such as intersections, urban and rural sections, expressways, bridge underpasses, etc.
- Effectively and efficiently resolve student issues
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Benefits
- Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience
- Expected hours: 40 per week
- 8–10-hour shift
- 5-days a week. Must be able to teach on weekends at times.
