Responsible for transporting goods from one place to another using heavy or tractor-trailer trucks. Operates trucks with a capacity of at least 80,000 pounds per gross vehicle weight.
- Deliver goods while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states.
- Load and unload cargo.
- Take orders for new deliveries.
- Drive long distances.
- Fill up on fuel, clean the truck, and wash windows.
- Report any incidents encountered on The Road to your supervisor.
- Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
- Please follow all applicable traffic laws
- Inspect their trailer before and after the trip and record any defects they find.
- Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
- Keep a log of their activities.
- Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
- Keep their truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order.
- Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking.
- Get goods to the client on time.
- Take rest periods during the trip.
- Take special precautions while driving.
- Maintain a log of trips.
- Will be required to make overnight dedicated runs on a north-south lane.
- Pulling a flatbed trailer with steel coils weighing up to a total of 80,000 pounds.

- Required – a Commercial Drivers License(CDL)
- Required – High School Diploma
- Required – the ability to read & write and understand directions and signage along the highways, roads, streets, & interstates.

- Bending, Pulling, Pushing, the ability to climb on and off the trailer and in and out of the truck
- The ability to throw heavy-duty chains to strap the coils onto the trailer.
- The associate must sit for long periods while driving the truck and waiting for steel to be loaded.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
