About the Role
The Water Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Manager at Bermex. This position will play a key role in Water Meter maintenance and installation. This position requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day. Travel up to 100% of time to different projects while getting paid!

What You’ll Do
Salary Range Transparency - $22 an hour
Employees in this position are eligible for a productivity incentive in addition to their base pay that provides employees with a payment for each meter installed over a threshold.

Responsibilities
  • Water Meter Maintenance
    • Perform visual inspections of water service for leaks
    • Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly
    • Properly change out Water Meters of varying sizes and brands
    • Properly change out Water Meter registers for AMI/AMR upgrade
  • Water Meter Reading
    • Read electric, gas, and/or Water Meters
    • Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computer
    • Additional projects as assigned
  • Customer Communication
    • Refers all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities
    • May provide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicable
    • Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate

About You
Must haves:
  • Education: Some High School education. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of the time to different projects around the U.S.

Nice to haves:
  • Education: High School Degree
  • Experience (Strongly Preferred): 1 year of experience changing out Water Meters and/or Water Meter registers.

Your Skills:
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as a team
  • Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling. Must be flexible in times of need, including extended nights and weekends.
  • Adequate time management skills to finish daily meter reads in a timely manner, figuring out an efficient way to read meters for that day
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting management and customers
  • Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner
  • Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding
  • Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordingly
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Place a high value on safety, quality of work, and operational procedures

  • Do not enjoy walking long distances
  • Are not flexible and do not enjoy adapting to your current work schedule or routine
  • Do not have adequate planning and time management skills to finish a day’s work in a timely manner
  • Drug/alcohol testing is required

Where We Work
Employees will begin their day at the local office where they will pick up their company vehicle, equipment, and assignments for the day.
