Position Overview:

Summit Line Construction is seeking a Traveling Utility Construction QA/QC Inspector to assist with our field utility projects. This position will fill a role for a project in AZ, near Casa Grande, but will travel to various field locations across the Western US.


Responsibilities:

  • Review drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary
  • Knowledge of drawings and specifications in order to perform inspections.
  • Observe and report on activities being performed by the
  • May assist in review and approve QA/QC forms submitted from field inspectors.
  • Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner
  • Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work
  • Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use in the project
  • Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems
  • Perform quality control testing and inspection in adherence with contract requirements and company best practices.
  • Fall in with crews during wire sagging activities to both preform the sagging, but also complete all QA/QC reports for the wire sagging.
  • Fall in with the crews completing the Steel erection activities.  Track OSD material and help field and material management with missing pieces.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in the construction or design of 345kV or higher transmission lines is desired. Or applicable schooling.
  • Knowledge and experience with wire sagging is highly desired.
  • Willingness to travel long-term
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must have a high school degree or GED; required
  • Civil Engineering Degree is desired.
  • Familiar with industry construction practices and Owner’s construction standards
  • Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening(s)
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and applicable safety software
