Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8a-1230p and 130p-5p; Friday 10a-1230p and 130p-5p
Job Duties: Assist the Optometrist with patient services.
Schedule patients using NextGen. Verify phone number, insurance and physical address.
Maintain a recall list and contact patients as necessary.
Maintain general appearance and cleanliness of optometry office and optical.
Clean and sterilize frames, implements, and diagnostic equipment to ensure quality and infection control.
Prepare, replenish, and bookkeeping of necessary optometry and optical supplies.
Assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames, choosing lens types, dispensing, adjusting, and repairs of hardware.
Measure and fit patients for glasses including single vision, bifocals, trifocals, progressive, tints, and photochromic lenses.
Pupil Dilation on patients as required.
Accurately order and verify prescription of eyeglasses and contact lenses as prescribed by the Optometrist.
Perform delegated optometry functions such as visual field testing, using the auto-keratometer/refractor, and verifying with the lensometer. Utilize NextGen to chart all orders, billing for services and dispense all vision-related items.
Instruct and train patients on proper insertion/removal of contact lenses and proper care of eyeglasses and contacts.
Answer, call, send, and receive optometry information to and from other providers by means of telephone, fax machines, computers, using appropriate means to ensure patient confidentiality.
Assist with the updating of optometry policies and procedures. Collect data for quarterly reports
