Travel Function Consultant - 6 month assignment ($45 - $60/hourly rate)

This role will be tasked with the crucial responsibility of defining the unique business requirements specific to the company's travel operations. This will involve a careful analysis of the company's current and anticipated travel needs, taking into consideration the size of the company, the nature of its operations, and the destinations most often travelled to. Following this, they will proceed to select a global travel management company that aligns best with these requirements. This decision will be based on a multitude of factors, considering not only cost but also the range and quality of services offered.


Additionally, the Travel Function Consultant will expertly oversee the functional configuration of the Concur travel system and various integrations with other systems and third-party providers. This will involve working closely with technical teams, coordinating efforts to tailor the system according to the specific needs and preferences of the company, while also troubleshooting any issues that arise during the implementation phase.


Duties and Responsibilities


Travel Management

  • Facilitating a process to identify and define company business requirements for the Travel Function, system, and travel management company.
  • Running a global tender to optimize our travel management company administration.
  • Selecting and managing relationships with travel management companies, ensuring the most effective and efficient travel solutions for business travel needs
  • Developing and managing relationships with third-party providers, such as airlines, hotels, and other service providers (e.g., travel management company).
  • Providing consultation on the latest trends and developments in the travel industry and using this knowledge to enhance processes.

System Management

  • Collaborating with team members and other stakeholders to optimize travel and expense reporting processes, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing the functional configuration of the travel system with Concur, fully utilizing its features to streamline travel and expense reporting processes.
  • Serving as functional owner for the Concur online booking system and a main point of contact for users needing assistance in navigating the tool.

Education and Experience:

  • Proven experience with managing a travel-related project involving multiple parties and locations.
  • Proven experience as a Corporate Travel Manager or consultant, preferably with a focus on corporate travel.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Concur is required, with a proven track record of configuring and utilizing the system to improve travel and expense reporting processes.
  • Previous experience using MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a business-related field a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Infrequent travel possible – less than 10%.
