Transportation Supervisor/Lead Dispatcher

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:Transportation Supervisor/Lead Dispatcher at the Calhoun, Ga plant

DEPARTMENT: Transportation

REPORTS TO: General Manager

Pay Class: Salary Exempt

Position Summary

Heading the transportation department in establishing the structure, systems and processes for collection and delivery of inbound and outbound freight. While overseeing material to include inventory level management, order fulfillment, and supply orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

*Develop, validate, communicate, and implement transportation & logistics programs, processes, and systems in a sustainable way, including:

a. Driver qualification, hiring, and training and retention.

b. Ensure driver safety and support company safety efforts.

c. Vehicle inventory and maintenance program

d. Dispatch

e. Compliance with OSHA, DOT, and any other regulatory agency

*Continuously monitor the performance and activities of Drivers and Warehouse personnel on all shifts.

*Control inventory levels by overseeing the physical inventory counts.

*Oversee physical condition, improvement & development of warehouse.

* Establish, maintain, and promote high standards of customer service.

* Source and Quote Inbound/Outbound Tire disposals.

* Promote motivation and teamwork among staff to strive for an efficient and effective transportation department.

* Track and report budget/goal #’s for the transportation department daily

* Order packaging materials and trailer parts as needed.

* Coordinate service/repair needs etc. with transportation vendors (Penske, Ryder, etc)

* Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

• 5-7 years related experience required.
• Yard Truck/Lift Truck/ CDL experience not required but is an advantage
• Should have a minimum of high school completion, GED.

· Ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels of the organization.

· Ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting work priorities and direction to ensure resources and focus on the highest value work.

Work Schedule

Initial work schedules will be provided to employee at the time of hire. Schedule is typically day shift, 5 days per week, 10 hours per day, with occasional weekend hours during inventory control or high-volume shipping demands. Excellent Attendance is required of this position. As a Salaried position, attendance infractions can be disciplined up to and including suspension without pay/termination.

Work Environment

· Office Environment is typical for an office.

· The noise level in the Plant work environment is usually very loud.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts.

· The buildings are heated during the winter, but conditions could be cold in the winter & hot during the summer.

· The warehouse area is open with covered areas. Can get dirty & wet at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
