Transportation Planner and Visitor Use Analyst

Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time Transportation Planner and Visitor Use (TPVU) Analyst for our team. As a TPVU Analyst, you will conduct research and analysis activities to support multimodal transportation planning and data-driven management of transportation and Visitor Use in local municipalities, parks and protected areas, mountain resorts, and other public spaces. This work helps our clients protect the resources and the quality of peoples’ experiences in cherished landscapes and places nationwide. You are involved in all phases of our transportation and Visitor Use projects, including planning and managing field-based and other data collections; data coding, cleaning, analysis and modeling; public and stakeholder engagement; and writing reports and preparing presentations based on the results of our work. Report writing and analysis may include authorship and analysis of recreation planning projects, technical analysis, and specialist reports, and authorship of appropriate sections to support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance requirements. Periodic travel is required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

· Conduct research analysis activities to support multimodal transportation and Visitor Use planning for local municipalities, parks and protected areas, mountain resorts, and public spaces.

· Plan and manage field-based data collections to include data coding, cleaning, analysis and modeling.

· Prepare written reports, presentations, and analysis of recreation planning projects to support NEPA compliance requirements.

· Participate in stakeholder engagement and strategy.

· Participate in all phases of our transportation and Visitor Use projects.

Required Skills and Abilities:

· Previous academic research, consulting experience, or government employment in transportation planning and Visitor Use analysis for parks, protected areas, and/or public spaces.

· Advanced proficiency in quantitative data collection, analysis, and modeling.

· Advanced proficiency in script-based statistical software programming and analysis.

· Advanced proficiency in statistical and simulation modeling of transportation planning and Visitor Use data.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

· Proficiency in spatial data analysis and ArcGIS.

· Ability to work under tight deadlines with geographically dispersed teams.

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

· Independent, self-motivated, and results oriented.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in data sciences, urban and transportation planning, statistics, math, economics, natural resources, or a related field.

· Project experience with federal agencies (FHWA, NPS, USFS, NRCS, etc.) is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

· Must be able to travel to various project sites.

Office Location

This position may be remote, partially remote, or working in one of DJ&A’s regional office locations.
