About the Position
The Transportation Management Intern is responsible for working within the Transportation department, providing analytics for the Transportation Management business unit of Kenco Logistics. The Carrier Development team owns the relationship with Kenco’s preferred Carrier Partners and this role will support operations analysis for cost, service, and implementation of automated shipment planning and execution functions with the TMS (Transportation Management System) as well as other assigned tasks.
Functions
- Monitor carrier performance against KPI’s
- Effectively utilize the IT platforms that support the business including MecuryGate, DAT, SONAR, and QLIK/Unify
- Utilize data, analysis, LEAN Six Sigma tools, and reporting of transportation metrics to drive continual process improvement and cost reduction.
- Understand and accurately enter carrier pricing proposals and agreements into TMS (MercuryGate), including applicable accessorial(s) and fuel schedules
- Support carrier contract management, including the contract verification process
- Support projects to batch rate, analyze and verify carrier and customer rates
- Must be able to build loads in TMS and document updates to loads as needed. (May be exposed to three types of loads: TL: Truck Load, LTL: Less than Truckload, and Parcel and E-Commerce.)

Qualifications
· Must be enrolled in college or a vocational school with specific focus on Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field
- 1 year of experience in Logistics and/or Carrier Sales is preferred, but not required
- Highly proficient in the use of MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Word.
- Preferred experience with Python or other advanced Modeling Tools
- Excellent communications with proven ability to follow up on issues
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing business environment

Travel Requirements
- This position is expected to travel approximately 5% or less.
