Primary Responsibilities
HDR is seeking a Transportation EIT/Designer to join our team. The primary duties require a detail-oriented individual who will assist the design team's development of transportation design and construction documents using local, state, and national standards for roadway and other transportation engineering projects (aviation/marine/hydrology/rail). Design work, primarily using Civil3, may include; horizontal and vertical alignment for roadways, intersection/interchange layout, cross sections, approach design, drainage calculations, utility plans, and other elements. Preparing calculations, reports, memos, cost estimates, and other documentation are also essential functions of the position. In addition, you will work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver transportation infrastructure projects of various sizes and complexity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or other Engineering related field.
- Strong communication skills and willing to work in a team environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications (Word/Excel/Outlook).
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Preferred Qualifications
- AutoCAD Civil 3D or other design software experience
- EIT certification is strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Transportation Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression within 6 months of being hired.
- Willingness to support Construction Administration of State and Federal construction projects providing office engineering and inspections on-site during the construction season around Alaska.
- Experience with the Alaska Department of Transportation (DOT&PF) or the Municipality of Anchorage policies and procedures, and/or transportation project experience is desired.
