Our global team is looking for a detail-oriented Transportation Designer / BIM Specialist to perform engineering-related tasks including computer aided design, roadway modeling, technical calculations and project delivery on highway and roadway projects, working closely with project engineers.

You will work on highway and roadway projects for major transportation clients including State DOTs, regional transportation planning authorities and local agency and municipal clients. Your projects will range from small intersections and corridor improvement projects to large interchanges and multimodal improvements that are either traditional Design-Bid-Build or Alternative Delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
As an employee-owner in this Transportation Designer / BIM Specialist role, we'll count on you to:
Utilize automated design software and engineering knowledge to prepare preliminary and final plans in coordination with project engineers
Perform quantity estimates and design calculations
Develop highway and roadway projects in a 3D digital delivery environment, working in close coordination with project Engineers and Designers
Participate in the collection and analysis of data required for roadway/highway engineering design
Provide strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to work with minimal supervision to complete engineering calculations and tabulations
Be open to opportunities to work with a variety of clients, projects and digital delivery staff through HDR's collaborative worksharing efforts across North America

Required Qualifications
Associate or technical school degree in Civil Engineering Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience Good working knowledge of CAD, design development, construction documents and engineering principles (Minimum 4 years experience)
Minimum 2 years of demonstrated hands-on experience using Bentley (Microstation, Open Roads) or Autodesk (Autocad, Civil3D) design software for model based digital delivery
Oral and written communication skills
Microsoft Office skills
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Construction inspection field experience
Advanced CAD training and experience
