DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Operating Room and Peri-Anesthesia departments provide specialized care to patients during the entire peri-anesthesia and peri-operative experience.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Transportation Aide provides safe transportation of surgical patients to and from the Operating Room, Pre-op, and PACU. Maintains the physical environment of the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Transport and/or accompany patients between the Operating Room, PACU, Pre Surgery, and discharge.
Maintain a clean environment in the PACU including but not limited to the cleaning of gurneys and beds, bays between patients/emptying trash and linen bins.
Stock supplies within unit at the beginning/end/throughout the day; including linen cart, blanket warmer, isolation cart, ice machines, and other supplies as indicated by supervisor.
Be available to assist other peri operative areas in like duties, as assigned by the charge nurse.
Provides a theraputic presence in the service of peri anesthesia patients.
Communicates effectively (both written and oral) and maintains professional relationships with other caregivers, medical staff, patients, and guests.
Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.
