Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Transmission System Control Analyst located at Doniphan Control Centerin Doniphan, Nebraska. Position closes March 21, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
This position will report to the Transmission System Control Supervisor.
Position Summary
Incumbent will have key responsibilities for the Transmission System Control Department, which include but are not limited to regulatory process documentation, regulatory data submissions, and many aspects surrounding Transmission System Control Reliability Standards Audit Worksheets (RSAWS). Incumbent will be responsible for compliance documentation and reporting requirements to SPP (Southwest Power Pool), MRO (Midwest Reliability Organization) and NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation). Incumbent will also provide administrative assistance for all areas of the Transmission System Control Department.
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelors degree and two (2) years’ experience (OR) Associates degree and four (4) years experience (OR) HS diploma/GED and six (6) years experience
Experience in any of the following areas: technical writing, NERC Reliability Standards, accounting, billing, power contracts, transmission operations, and/or other utility experience indicating the applicant has the skills and ability to perform the required duties of the position.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications
Establish and maintain acceptable NERC security background check.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for meeting MRO and NERC compliance requirements including maintaining and submitting documentation and managing many aspects of the reliability standard audit worksheets (RSAWS). Incumbent will monitor, report, and handle NERC Reliability Standard Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsibilities, as necessary.
Fulfill various technical and administrative needs of the Transmission System Control staff in day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include providing logistics and documentation updates for: real-time operations, Transmission System Control Operator training, power system restoration programs, and Transmission System Control Engineering.
Analyze and approve billing information for substation callouts and switching by wholesale customers, as per contract requirements.
Analyze and approve billing information for OATI (Open Access Technology International) tagging and other subscription services from various vendors for the Transmission System Control Department.
Maintain NPPD's OASIS (Open Access Same-Time Information System) page. This involves maintaining and posting FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) approved protocols and information to the NPPD OASIS page as required by the SPP tariff.
Manage the Transmission System Control procedure process which includes, creating, developing, updating, and maintaining all business unit and many corporate procedures and processes.
Fulfills role as timesheet reviewer and coordinator for the Transmission System Control team to ensure shift schedules and overtime has been recorded appropriately for all Operators, as well as the others in the department.
Accountable for other duties as assigned.

In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Pay Grade - 11 monthly
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $5,418.00 - $6,772.00
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
