Transmission Live Line Equip Operator

About the Position:
We are presently seeking an Transmission Live Line Equipment Operator for an opening in Albany. In addition to a starting wage of $48.95 per hour, we offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) plan, vacation, tuition assistance and more.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Under general supervision at locations and under conditions requiring resourcefulness and considerable judgment to perform the most skilled types of equipment operation such as the operation of mobile clam shell type cranes, track-laying tractors and associated equipment, earth borer pole setters, to operate heavy equipment on or around energized conductors, to do necessary related rigging operations and provide ground assistance to line crews. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Operate a tractor trailer or dump truck with high / low bed trailers and load / unload heavy equipment or materials.
• Operate heavy equipment on or around energized conductors, i.e., backhoe, excavator, bulldozer, truck crane, conventional crane, assorted tracked vehicles, and Transmission conductor installation machinery. Delivery of fuel products to support National Grid projects.
• Installation/ removal of utility poles, excavating roadways, digging utility pole holes, installing, and running conductor, delivering material and equipment,
• Perform all duties while adhering to National Grid Safety and Environmental Standards.
• Respond to emergency calls during off hours which may require overnight stays and perform duties in adverse conditions.
• Operate a crane utilizing a personnel work basket near energized conductors.
• Ability to operate equipment and perform manual labor or other duties as directed in various environmental conditions in a transmission right of way.
• Perform all other work as required by the job, examples are but not limited to groundwork, delivering stock, digging pole holes by hand.

Job Qualifications:

• Must obtain an unrestricted NYS Class A Commercial Driver's License within 6 months.
• Must obtain metal coil and hazardous material endorsements, and a certified escort license within six months.
• Must have possession of a New York State Crane Operator's License.
• Must pass the validated aptitude test.
• Must have the ability, skill, and knowledge to perform their job responsibilities, inclusive of Transmission Live Line work practices in the energized area up to and including 345 kV.

Salary:
Hourly/$48.95
Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
