As part of our Power Delivery Transmission and Distribution practice, you will have the opportunity to build and lead your own team of Transmission line design professionals while managing Transmission Line Projects in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, and beyond. You will likely have prior experience managing and providing technical leadership on small/medium projects and are now ready to take-on a broader role overseeing all aspects of larger and more complex Transmission Line Projects. Additionally, you will have the desire and drive to grow a high performing team to help execute these projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Managing and leading transmission projects throughout the entire project life cycle, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management.
- Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD Technicians and administrative staff.
- Leading the QA/QC process on projects per HDR's Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements with a commitment to delivering world class quality.
- At times, being responsible for overseeing non-engineering components of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, construction management, and other services.
- Manage and execute the engineering and design components of transmission projects.
- Leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver world class services to clients in the region.
- Performing client management, project management, staff supervision, and/or technical support activities.
- At times, supporting and engaging in broader business development activities with existing and target clients in the region.
- At times, leading multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
- Working with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and attending training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to the transmission industry.
- Periodically assisting with development of technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or related discipline
- A minimum of 7 years related experience
- A minimum of 2 years of project management experience
- MS Office and MS Project experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and client relationships in Florida considered a strong advantage
- Transmission line design experience using PLS-CADD, steel and wood transmission structure analysis/design,
- foundation design, material procurement, specifications, and construction support
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams; regional, department, and technical managers; and project
- staff
- Experience with Transmission Line, distribution line, and associated strategic services aspects (i.e., routing, permitting,
- public involvement, right of way acquisition) of projects with strong technical experience in design
- Distribution line design experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months, together with experience
- using project management tools such as MS Project
- MS Access experience
- PE license
- Experience working with renewables developers and/or the interconnection of renewables
