The Part Time Transload Operator’s primary responsibility is to safely and timely unload rail cars to trucks within the customer’s facility. It is expected that the Part Time Transload Operator will have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies. This part time position will be Monday through Friday, 10am to 3pm with occasional hour adjustments and possible Sunday full day coverage, which is necessary to meet order needs.
Pay range $21.00 to $22.00 per hour.
The position of Part Time Transload Operator is responsible for the daily unloading of materials consisting of a variety of bulk liquid and dry products
- Ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies
- Ability to operate or learn to operate railcar loading systems and equipment
- Ability to perform work safely and productively
- Ability to learn and provide track safety
- Ability and interested in being cross trained on all functions at facility
- Pass drug test, physical, hearing, and erailsafe certifications
- Strong work ethic
- Willingness to follow procedures
- Keeps work area clean
- Is not afraid to ask questions
- Can accurately fill out all necessary paperwork
- Enforces safety policies and procedures with truck drivers, team members and visitors
- Ability to perform general maintenance on equipment
- Assist with handyman duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscape upkeep and painting)
- Interact with other team members
- Interact with customers, railroad crews, and visitors
- Understands customer needs
- For safety reasons, must be able to read, write and understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
- Basic math skills
- Computer skills (light data entry using Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Capable to learn how to operate and maintain railcar/trans loading equipment (e.g., Hoses, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium sized equipment, etc.)
- Must have transportation and must be on time to work
- ability and willingness to travel to other transload terminals to assist when necessary; may be for up to a week at a time
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to climb up and down railcars/ladders safely
- Willing to receive general safety training
- Ability to work outside in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps)
- Willing to work with liquid hazardous and dry bulk materials
- Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds
- In good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift)
