- Translates a variety of district communications from English to Spanish and occasionally Spanish to English, for various audiences under tight deadlines
- Translates emergency documents, including letters and other urgent communications
- Proofreads and edits to provide the best and most accurate translations
- Interprets for parents/school personnel as needed at requested meetings, including community, district, special education
- Attends weekend, evening, and daytime meetings, including Board of Education meetings
- Travels to district campuses for bilingual personnel facilitation
- Maintains and provides reports of work completed
- Compiles database of terminology and information to be used in translations, including technical terms
- Receives and submits assignments electronically via email or Google Drive
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency)
- 60 college hours or bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Spanish translator and interpreter in the education field
- Exceptional communication skills; proficient in reading, writing, and speaking in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to interpret simultaneously, consecutively and perform sight translations as needed
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents and school personnel from diverse cultures in English and Spanish
- Proficiency in applied technology such as Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Google Suite, as well as Adobe Suite (preferred);
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment with minimal supervision
- Must be detail oriented and a quick learner
- Adaptable to sudden schedule changes
