Description
Under general supervision, directs, plans, manages, coordinates, and administers the programs and activities for maintaining all electronic equipment necessary to DDOT, ensures full operational capability at all times. Troubleshoots and repairs problems with the surveillance system used on-board all buses, surveillance systems deployed at local transit stations, electronic vehicle inspection system, automated passenger counters and electronic destination signs on buses. Performs preventive maintenance on all hardware and ensures that all software is updated.
Examples of Duties
  1. Administers and oversees the Electronics and Farebox systems for all system users, enters, updates, and troubleshoots database; assigns security to users; and monitors system performance.
  2. Participates with internal work teams, task forces and consultants in troubleshooting issues, streamlining operations, and process improvements related to the systems, prepares updated documentation resulting from changing requirements. Provides initial application support to end users;
  3. Provides support with testing, debugging and enhancing the system, maintains documentation and training materials for each enhancement.
  4. Performs field and acceptance tests to system upgrades/patches before implementation, logs items tested along with results for historical recordkeeping.
  5. Builds and tests queries for internal and external auditors and public disclosure requests.
  6. Provides support in maintaining system documentation and "how to" for all levels of the system administration; trains all end users on system changes to the system or processes to include process improvements, upgrades, user training enhancements, etc.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Quality Assurance, or relevant engineering field, or eight (8) years of equivalent industry related experience.
Four (4) years progressively responsible experience in quality assurance auditing, bus equipment engineering, bus communication equipment engineering, and investigation or analysis which includes supervising the technical aspect of software systems and wireless communication systems that support transit technology, including planning, coordinating and performing installations, troubleshooting and maintenance on hardware and software applications for transit vehicles and transit facilities.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirement of this position.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
• Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
- At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
- At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
