(CHICAGO/HYBRID) We are seeking a Transformational Giving Associate to manage departmental projects and provide administrative support for the Director of Transformational Giving as well as the Transformational Giving and Major Gift team. The Transformational Giving Associate will develop project plans, manage deliverables and action items. The individual in this role must successfully manage department projects through the full project life cycle, working with multi-disciplinary teams and external partners as necessary and delivering to the expectations of primary stakeholders. The Transformational Giving Associate will create, compile, review and summarize as needed in support the Director of Transformational Giving and department initiatives.

We are seeking an individual with Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of 4 years’ experience working with director or executive level leadership. Minimum of 4 years' experience successfully managing projects through a full life cycle. Knowledge and experience working with fundraising software, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or equivalent.

Essential responsibilities include:

Project Planning and Process Management: Partner with the Director of Transformational Giving to align department strategies with functional processes. Support the Transformational Giving team in planning and managing projects through the full life cycle. Serve as a lead on special projects to advance the needs of the department and fundraising efforts.

Reporting: Compile reports and provide required data and information as needed. Create new reports to acquire information for the Director and team to grow core contributions. Assist in monitoring and reconciling monthly budgets, as well as assist in preparation of annual budget and budget revision needs.

Director and Transformational Giving Department Support: Provide advanced level administrative support to the Director of Transformational Giving. Plan and schedule department meetings and retreats as required, including logistical needs. Serve as a liaison between departments, including Office of the President.

Technical & Individual Skills:

  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office and with donor or customer databases.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in using the Internet and Intranet.
  • Basic to intermediate-level knowledge of fundraising best practices, specifically donor stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of estate planning and planned gifts. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to view the “big” picture and apply exceptional critical thinking skills and sound judgment.
  • Excellent written communication skills, along with strong editing and proofing skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills to effectively interact with staff, management and executives, vendors, and donors.
  • Ability to adjust communication style and negotiate to ensure timelines are met.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with excellent time management skills.
