What You Will Do:

The Transfer Articulation Analyst is responsible for evaluating, maintaining and processing official transactions pertaining to Transfer Articulation and related student academic records, ensuring the protection of student records in compliance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). This includes evaluating prior education, determining which credits meet General Education requirements for degree or teacher program preparation, maintaining the proper student information in Banner, working directly with faculty and other Student Services departments.

 


  • Analyzes transfer credit and prepares initial credit evaluations for new students, re-entry and re-admission evaluations for returning students, changes of program evaluations for current students; advises and makes course recommendations for teacher candidates to complete coursework required for admission into the Master of Arts in Teaching programs.
  • Works with the NLU partnership agencies, pre-approves candidates for the alternative teaching programs. Prepares transcript evaluation and works with the NLU Licensure Officer to submit the evaluation to ISBE for candidates’ approval to the alternative program.
  • Understands all graduate teacher preparation and subsequent teaching program admission requirements and enforces policies related to each curriculum on a daily basis; resolves problems and acts as a resource to other departments regarding all transfer and curriculum related issues; communicates the University's transfer policies and procedures to enrollment specialists, academic advisors and transfer counselors from other institutions.
  • Processes student requests for additional teaching endorsements and makes transfer credit decisions related to acceptable coursework based on ISBE requirements, communicates the outcome to the student, enrollment specialist, academic advisor, and licensure officer.
  • Ensures that the student records are correct in Banner and accurately updates student information as necessary; checks the accuracy of degree plans for students in all M.A.T. and subsequent teaching programs; informs students and academic advisors of transfer credit, other official transactions and General Education assessments.
  • Assists the Associate Registrar in maintaining the Banner course catalog, processing of new and revised courses based on the Curriculum Management system Course Data Collection proposals, supports by completing catalog course reports and processing course deactivation, processing minor changes and proofreading prepared for publication catalog pages.
  • Supports the Senior Transfer Articulation Analyst in developing and improving the lists of NLU acceptable coursework for teacher preparation admissions assessments; reviews transfer coursework from other institutions and determines its transferability and applicability to specific M.A.T. and subsequent teaching program.
  • Supports the mission of the Office of the Registrar by assisting in other areas as needed.

 


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-3 years of directly related experience in higher education preferably in Transfer Articulation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in computer proficiency, proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and organize own priorities.
  • Ability to analyze a problem and identify solutions.
  • Ability to relate to a diverse student body.
  • Job Skills/Job-Specific Knowledge: Possesses sufficient job skills and knowledge to perform the job in a competent manner. Is able to demonstrate skills and knowledge in day-to-day situations.
