BE PART OF THE CONNECTION
You plan resource requirements for Spectrum Enterprise Core and client network systems. You drive the implementation process, monitor protocols and compatibility standards and work with optical and IP based transport and Ethernet. You collaborate with teams in person and digitally within an office environment. Depending on the business unit, you may be part of a 24/7/365 on-call environment.
WHAT OUR NETWORK ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST
- Drive engineering projects by participating in planning the architecture design.
- Complete network configuration projects by integrating communication architecture, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links.
- Enhance the product base through product evaluations and network issue resolution.
- Maintain product and service quality by developing and documenting technical standards.
- Optimize existing networks by completing medium- to highly-complex projects and systems.
- Provide escalated troubleshooting and issues resolutions to support tiers during program implementation which can include evening or overnight maintenance work.
- Guide and mentor less experienced team members to improve productivity.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM ENTERPRISE
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in Optical Transport Deployment
- Experience with an optical network provider, or vendor acting in an operations or engineering role. Experience in building optical networking infrastructure and/or optical networking equipment/systems.
- 3+ years of experience with the operation, administration, and maintenance of Optical transport networks. Primary equipment includes Nokia PSS, CISCO NCS2015, Ciena 6500
- Design, build, configure, and manage the installation/deployment of the Spectrum Enterprise optical network including infrastructure, hardware setup, commissioning, trouble-shooting, and decommissioning old gear as we're in a constant upgrade cycle
- Ability to receive complex work packages/network designs via workflow tool, interpret the request, execute the tasks to include: complete accurate impact statements and build Change Requests that include a detailed MOP
- Experience with routing protocols, optical transport systems, provisioning and troubleshoot above noted equipment with various common service configurations
- Execute scheduled maintenance window activities as necessary to complete network maintenance, augments, optimizations or troubleshooting
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, a related field or equivalent experience.
- Technical Skills: strong familiarity with OTN, SONET, DWDM
- Skills: English communication skills.
- Abilities: Ability to self-manage multiple tasks simultaneously across various job assignments; maintain accurate ticket status, work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with strict deadlines; execute above work on live customer circuits with skillset to avoid workman casued outages; work in a 24/7 on-call rotation as needed to support trouble tickets and break/fix.

- OCP, NONC, CCNP or other industry-specific certifications
