We are looking for an experienced trainer to join our Organizational Learning (OL) team. We are the university's central department for professional, career, and leadership development and culture change programs. As a Senior Training Specialist you will conduct a variety of educational programs for the University community, with a focused responsibility for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Leadership Development. You will work with unit managers to determine training needs, designing, teaching and facilitating educational programs, and evaluating training outcomes. You will gain a broad knowledge of principles and practices of adult learning. You will report to the Associate Director, Organizational Learning. This is a hybrid position.
Responsibilities*
  • Facilitate a wide range of DEI training programs both in-person and virtually. Ensure that participants understand principles of DEI, and equip them to apply the principles within the context of the University community.
  • Facilitate additional training programs, both virtually and in-person, including communication, conflict management, change management, workstyle assessments, performance coaching
  • Develop and revise training materials including participant guides and supplemental materials using a variety of delivery vehicles
  • Review, analyze, and report on training evaluations; use input to inform future programs
  • Research and launch new programs that correspond with current organizational priorities to increase the knowledge, behavior, and skills of the faculty and staff
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and recommend appropriate development programs
  • Recommend new learning resources on LinkedIn Learning
  • Build relationships and partner with diverse individuals across a large, decentralized organization
  • Partner with other internal experts to develop and facilitate training, including using research-based practices
  • Partner with our OL Training Specialists to coordinate logistics
  • Work with our UM communications team to promote our offerings
  • Attend appropriate meetings and represent our team on committees and UM work groups

Required Qualifications*
  • 5+ years of experience training and facilitating learning and development programs with at least 3 years focused on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training
  • Applied experience in adult learning theory, needs assessment, and experience training leaders
  • Formal training in critical race theory, antiracism, building inclusive communities or other topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Advanced proficiency in presenting both in person and virtually
  • Experience with new course design and presentation development
  • Interest in building partnerships across a large, complex, decentralized organization
