This is a key position on the Competency Development & Nuclear Operations team and the incumbent must have high initiative and exceptional leadership, collaboration, and team building skills. The role of the Training School Manager Americas is to lead Training School resources to support the BU organization.
Your Day to Day:
- Establish area and individual objectives, monitor performance, and provide feedback and coaching to ensure objectives are met
- Direct, mentor and develop area personnel.
- Works hand by hand with the Program Managers from the different BU Projects.
- Can deliver support Training and qualify new Instructors
- Develop the skills of the group and maintain Subject Matter Expertise (SME) within GOS and cross train personnel to ensure resources qualifications to support BU Projects
- Positively model and champion a results-oriented accountability culture. Create an environment that encourages and supports employee participation through involvement in problem-solving, decision-making, and implementing change
- Maintain high employee morale in an environment of dynamic production load requirements and technological changes
- Model and ensure Nuclear Safety behaviors. Develop and implement plans for meeting customer requirements; ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, nuclear and government regulations
- Implement standards contained in Westinghouse "Codes of Business Ethics & Conduct." Ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed about the standards and related policies and enforce them within this supervised activity
- Must implement change in accordance with the needs of the business and the strategic plans of the organization
- Create flexible work force to accommodate variable demand within BU requirement ranges.
- Ensure estimates and projects are not overly burdened with labor hours and personnel are moved to other work upon completion of their assignment
- In the event of a demand conflict, capability to provide inputs to the BU to optimize resources for the projects within and across the BUs. Note that before resource changes are made, GOS and BUs will collaborate to resolve any potential cost, schedule and/or delivery impacts.
- Identify specific resources after resource loaded schedule development, as appropriate and as agreed with the BU and will conduct Resource Demand meeting with BU profit/loss leaders to review resource plans and performance metrics driving accountability into the process as needed.
- Support the BU during the Bid and Proposal process as needed
What you need to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific or appropriate business field
- 5-10 years of management experience in a training environment
- Knowledge of the certification training Process
- Knowledge about Systematic Approach to Training
- Knowledge of the Training Processes
- Experience supporting audits
