Description
A Training and Program Specialist (TPS) is responsible to oversee a pod of Behavior Technicians who provide ABA therapy to children ages 2-12 who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental and language delays in a center setting. The TPS acts a role model for their pod and assists the leadership team in training new and existing employees.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure pod members follow the prescribed skill acquisition and behavior support plan
  • Lead daily stand-up pod meetings
  • Cover employee breaks
  • Support team and client needs on the floor during therapy sessions
  • Conduct trainings on clinical and non-clinical topics as assigned
  • Facilitate social group activities
  • Ensure therapists complete end of day billing, charting, chores, and other administrative tasks
  • Attend and participate in Clinical Staff and other meetings as scheduled
  • Assist BCBA with weekly client progress updates and weekly parent notes
  • Communicate program changes and client specific updates as directed by the BCBA
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding the client's progress as directed by the BCBA
  • Assist the BCBA in preparing and organizing client materials as instructed
  • Overlap with BCBA during consults
  • Conduct 1:1 check-ins and provide daily coaching/feedback, and remediate training as needed to
    address skill deficits
  • Open and close the building as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment
  • Maintain treatment fidelity
  • Maintain client safety and confidentiality
  • Conduct 1:1 therapy with clients as needed
  • Contribute to a positive working environment

Requirements
Basic & Physical Requirements:
  • A Bierman employee for longer than 6 months in good standing
  • Must be able to lift and carry clients who are least 30 pounds
  • Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the
    Behavior Support Plan in the course of working with children with challenging behavior
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures including kneeling, squatting, crouching,
    crawling, sitting, standing, bending, for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk and run to chase clients and maintain a three-foot distance at all times
  • Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to attend to basic needs such as feeding, diapering, toileting, and dressing
  • Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data
    collection and session documentation
  • Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication though computer, electronic
    devices, and paper means.
  • Must be able to take written data and transfer to electronic files or data base systems
  • Must be able to maintain prolonged periods of working on a computer while sitting at a desk or on the floor
  • Must be able to assemble, clean and maintain therapy space including toys and furniture
  • Must be able to administer medication to clients
Job Requirements:
  • Experience working with multiple clients in the behavior technician role
  • Excellent rapport with children
