OVERVIEW

The Trainer for Children’s Services is responsible for conducting onboarding for new staff, providing trainings as required by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and coordinating professional development opportunities for all staff in the Home Study & Post Release Services (HS/PRS) program. The position will be responsible for the development of training materials for both live and online self-paced trainings. This position reports to the Program Manager for Training and Staff Development.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize, develop, and deliver live online high-quality training, coaching, and technical assistance services for staff in the HS/PRS program, including case managers, case aides, supervisors, and support staff;
  • Develop and update new staff onboarding curriculum for required pre-service trainings;
  • Facilitate onboarding trainings with new staff in a live online format and through recorded webinars and e-learning modules;
  • Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of annual trainings in the areas of child welfare, behavioral health, child trafficking, and other topics as required by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR);
  • Track completion of onboarding and annual training requirements for staff;
  • Train staff on new policies and procedures;
  • Conduct training needs assessments and analyze various data to identify training needs;
  • Analyze and respond to training evaluations to improve presentation content, delivery and effectiveness;
  • Develop a training calendar in collaboration with the training team;
  • Deliver and coordinate external facing trainings for providers working with unaccompanied children;
  • Maintain working knowledge of best practices and trends in the field and share relevant, ongoing professional development opportunities with the HS/PRS network;
  • Research relevant subject matter/topics to create accurate and relevant training and support materials;
  • Conduct outreach and coordinate with external organizations/subject matter experts for technical assistance and to present relevant trainings; and
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science, education, or social services field with at least five years’ experience in staff training, case management, and/or child welfare;
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Experience working with immigrant children, supervision of staff or programs, and training of staff is highly preferred;
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional design;
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically proficiency with Word, Power Point and Excel is required;
  • Strong technology skills and ability to effectively utilize web-based training platforms and online learning management systems (LMS);
  • Experience with e-learning highly preferred (Articulate 360);
  • Strict adherence to timeframes, policy and procedures;
  • Ability to prioritize duties and multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team;
  • Ability to track and analyze data;
  • Position is remote and the candidate must have an appropriate workspace to complete documentation, phone calls, and video conferencing;
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred; proficiency in additional languages a plus;
  • Willing to travel a few times annually;
  • Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to comply with mandatory state reporting requirement for child abuse and neglect;
  • Candidate must have dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers and displaced people;
  • Candidate must pass a criminal background check that includes history of conviction of child and sexual abuse; and
  • Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.


TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training;
  • Satisfactory completion of funder required trainings upon hire and on an annual basis; and
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands;
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; and
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
