A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TRAFFIC DESIGN / TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER

In this civil engineering position, you efficiently complete infrastructure projects with the goal of optimizing traffic flow and safety. Working alongside your team, you help design roadways that make driving efficient, convenient, and safe. You effectively manage a wide range of traffic engineering matters including data analysis, contract drawings, specifications, and estimates.

Using CAD software, you model traffic flow and create designs that keep cars moving smoothly. For every project, you ensure our work is completed on time and according to budget. When appropriate, you provide support and guidance for newer engineers still learning the trade. You take pride in keeping cities efficiently flowing and drivers safe!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A TRAFFIC DESIGN / TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER

• Experience with preparing traffic engineering designs and data reports
• Proficiency with CAD software such as MicroStation, InRoads, MicroStation Connect, OpenRoads Designer, and ProjectWise
