MISSION CONTRIBUTION:

Maximizes donated goods value by ensuring the efficient and cost effective operation through safe, timely materials processing and movement within GIM supporting transportation and salvage operations.

FUNCTION:

Under the direct Supervision of the Salvage leadership team, is responsible for assisting in processing of post retail goods and keeping equipment emptied for the transportation flow. Also, is responsible for providing world-class customer service, maintaining work place and work area safe with cleanliness and orderliness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Greets internal and external customers in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner; assist customers with prices, location, and information on merchandise, ensuring 100% customer delight.

2. Assist with quality control assurance.

3. Responsible for any cleaning as assigned.

4. Adheres to all GSM and personnel policies and procedures; follow good safety practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.

5. Operates baler and other assigned equipment in a safe manner in accordance with organizational and safety policies and procedures.

6. Processes salvage and donations efficiently based on company needs and adapts to changes in commodities processing as assigned.

7. Bales salvageable merchandise, identify and demonstrate understanding of items that can be baled together or items that cannot be baled but should be process separately.

8. Maintains accurate bale count with production equivalent to 8-10 bales per 8 hour shift, averaging over 1 bale per hour.

9. Adhere to Goodwill’s Safety Standards while operating the Baler and while on duty as assigned.

10. Assist in efficient movement of goods in the warehouse to and from storage or production areas, and in the loading and unloading of trucks with general merchandise and donated goods with the aid of material handling equipment as needed.

11. Learns to operate assigned material handling equipment in a safe and prudent manner under general supervision, in accordance with the laws of the State of Mississippi, organizational and safety policies and procedures.

12. Responsible to assist guiding the movement of vehicles and/or material movement equipment in a safe manner and acts as a spotter.

13. Use of safe work procedures and personal protective equipment as required. (i.e. lifting, use of proper equipment, etc.). Reports incidents and injuries in a timely manner to the immediate supervisor.

14. Ensures that all items are processed accurately and that all saleable merchandise always makes it to the sales floor.

15. Report vehicle defects, incidents, or damage to the vehicles before and after route.

16. Establishes and maintains a cooperative, functional work relationship with team leader and all team members.

17. Attend in-service and related training as assigned by Store Manager.

18. Performs other duties as assigned by Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to work in non-climate controlled environments required

2. Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects as required by job.

3. Able to sit, stand, bend and reach.

4. Able to lift, push, pull up to forty (40) pounds with no support regularly. Over forty (40) pounds request for additional team member assistance as needed.

5. Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer), and adequate distance to guide the parking of vehicles.

6. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, team members, customers, and clients.

7. Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

8. Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

9. Skill of operation monitoring, watching indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

10. Ability to work under general supervision.

Training and Experience:

1. Some previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is usually needed.

2. Safety certifications preferred

3. Any previous forklift experience is preferred, as job is intended to transition into forklift certification.
