The Trading Assistantwill work closely with traders, legal, risk, clients, and terminals to coordinate movements for appropriate timing, batch, and sequence of product shipments. To ensure the successful coordination of shipments to support physical commodity movement, while also minimizing transportation costs and maintaining quality.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewed all entered paper deals in ERP systems on the day after they were executed.
- Check derivatives confirmations from counterparties/brokers and alert traders of any disparities.
- Reviewed all hedging positions against physical deals.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the market, support Traders and Analysts in preparing internal reports, filing documents, managing trading records, and market analysis.
- Check paper position/P&L with OTC counterparties on a daily basis. Settle the P&L with OTC parties on a weekly and Monthly basis.
- Reviewed internal system to ensure all information is aligned with third-party data.
- Perform paper monthly end closing with the Finance team.
- Accountable for confirming receivables and payables in a timely manner and recording and processing all settlements as per our internal procedures and processes.
- Prepare Monthly Closing to reconcile all trades at the end of the month supporting the accounting department and management.
- Prepare Monthly closing report to HQ paper trading department and reconcile with accounting record.
- Assist the Risk and Finance department with requested reports, documents, or other duties.
- Develop improved scheduling methods to efficiently utilize company resources, optimize inventory levels, and minimize transportation costs.
- Confirm with the settlements team any pricing and or volume discrepancy to resolve any issues or barriers post-trade.
- Partners and collaborates with our back office to positively manage the settlement process with third parties, such as inspection invoices on cargoes.
- Provide backup to other operators and interact/coordinate with our internal groups/companies to complete all required tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in mathematics, economics, or related
- Experience with supply chain, trading experience, and familiarity with oil derivatives markets
- Refinery planning and/or operations experience is an asset
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with an ability to build positive relationships and team spirit
- Highly analytical
- Python programming is highly desirable
- Confidence working with international trade finance
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
- Excellent time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills
- Bilingual in Mandarin and English is a plus
- Ability to work well without supervision and self-starter
