POSITION DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment at City facilities, including playground equipment, chlorination systems, and plumbing and irrigation systems. Transplants, prunes, and shapes trees and shrubs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Position Specific Summary
The Trade Specialist Construction Maintenance position at the City of Tucson's Parks and Recreation Department installs, maintains, and repairs equipment, amenities, and structures at City Parks and Recreation facilities, including playground equipment, ball fields, picnic tables, basketball courts, fencing, sidewalks walkways and related areas.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Parks Maintenance Coordinator. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Installation (35%) - Essential
Installs equipment and materials in recreation facilities, parks, and their surrounding areas. Draws out installation plans and layouts, detailing the assembly process for playground components, concrete tables, grills, benches, bleachers, fencing, and concrete slabs. Analyzes blueprints and specifications to determine placement and assembly of equipment and materials.
Maintenance & Repair (30%) - Essential
Maintains and repairs facilities and surrounding areas through regular inspections. Conducts thorough assessments to identify areas in need of repair by troubleshooting potential issues. Inspects vandalized areas, equipment or fixtures. Maintains trip hazards such as uneven surfaces, tree roots, groundhog holes or water slabs. Performs routine maintenance on tools, including charging, cleaning, lubricating, and sharpening as required. Repairs various park amenities, including fabric fencing, signs, bollards, cable fences, swing gates, and sidewalks.
Equipment Operation ( 20%) - Essential
Operates pickup, dump, crane, flatbed, and hydraulic lift trucks with flatbed, box, and hydraulic trailers to transport equipment, materials, and green waste debris. Operates backhoe, power chipper, stump grinder, skid steer, forklift, concrete cutter, soil tamper, chain saw, pole saw and assorted power tools for installation, repair and maintenance.
Data Entry (10%) - Essential
Reads, interprets, and tracks work orders, maintains daily work activity tasks with the use of iPhone and Cartegraph management system.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%) - Non-Essential
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
Work involves heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment. The nature of work is not routine and is expected to be flexible on timelines and priorities.

High school diploma or equivalent
Work Experience:
Two (2) years of directly related
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Minimum Hiring Salary: $19.97
Dependent upon experience, qualifications, and successful completion of any applicable job training**
Full Hourly Range: $19.97 - 34.44 USD
