Summary of the position: THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN GROVE CITY, PA, ON THE GEORGE JUNIOR REPUBLIC CAMPUS. The Mental Health Technician is the primary direct-care worker in the TRACC program. This position is designed to provide the daily structure, safety and security for consumers. The care, supervision and the implementation of programming for the consumer is the primary focus of the job.

Description of Duty
Safety and Security
- Ensure that each consumer is secure and safe at all times through direct monitoring. This includes 15-minute sight and sound checks.
- Required to accompany and monitor consumers during activities and out of unit appointments.
- Monitor consumers during both awake and asleep hours.
- Conduct monthly fire drills.
- Implement suicide watch and abscond watch protocols when applicable.
Therapeutic Milieu
- Promote a consistent and supportive environment for consumers.
- Support therapist with implementation of the treatment plan.
- Promote a trauma-informed environment by utilizing the CARE principles.
- Responsible for promoting healthy relationships with consumers, family and coworkers.
Life Skills
- Teach and model appropriate social behaviors by utilizing and teaching life skills.
- Engage with each consumer individually and in groups in order to increase their level of functioning.
- Support pro-social behaviors.
Facility Maintenance
- Report facility concerns to the Program Director.
- Conduct monthly fire and other emergency management drills.
Interdisciplinary Meetings
- Attend and participate in interdisciplinary meetings.
Documentation
- Complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Record daily activities and major events of each shift.
- Check email daily.
- Log into intranet daily.
- Utilize attendance system to clock in and out ensuring location of shift is accurate.
Food Service and Kitchen Cleanliness
- Set up and serve meals as per menu on a daily basis.
- Ensure all food service materials are prepared for return to Central Kitchen.
- Ensure that cleanliness and order is maintained in kitchen.
- Assess kitchen for overstocked items and report to Warehouse and Central Kitchen.
- Be aware of consumer’ food allergies and sensitivities
Passive Physical restraint
- Provide physical security for consumers. This includes the use of passive restraint techniques when necessary.
- Ensure only techniques learned and skilled out on are utilized when performing safe crisis management.
- Complete restraint incident report by the end of the shift in which the restraint occurred.
Incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, must be capable of implementing safe crisis management techniques, and perform CPR.
Requirements:
-High school diploma required
-College credits with experience working with consumers with mental illness preferred
