Job Summary:

This position will help oversee and implement the day-to-day clinical toxicology laboratory operations, as assigned, and in accordance with applicable CLIA regulations, best practices, HIPAA, and PHI’s Standard Operating Procedures. This position will be in the lab conducting tests, troubleshooting instrumentation and analytics daily. Essential to the success of this position is mass spectrometry experience designed for LC-MS/MS analyses.

Education & Training: bachelor’s degree, PhD, and/or completion of accredited MLT or certificate program in the specialty of Toxicology.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Help oversee and implement the day- to-day clinical toxicology laboratory operations.

• Ensure that policies and procedures are established for both conducting and monitoring individuals who conduct pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of testing to verify that they maintain competency.

• Perform the test methods as required to obtain accurate and reliable results.

• Ensure the establishment, maintenance, and documentation of acceptable levels of analytical performance for each test system.

• Ensure test result reports include pertinent information required for interpretation.

• Confirm verification procedures are adequate to determine accuracy, precision, and other pertinent performance characteristics of the method.

• Ensure test methods selected have the capability of providing quality results.

• Ensure that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.

• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.

• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

• Ensure turnaround time goals are met.

• Expand or reduce existing validated tests/assays as needed.

• Collect and prepare samples, solutions, and specimens and ensure safe disposal of waste.

Qualification Requirements:

• Bachelors in Chemistry or Biology

• Minimum 3 years of experience in post-analytical analysis.

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus.

• Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Excellent written and oral communication.

• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.

• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
