Description
Position at EF Explore America
Job Title:Tour Director Allocations Specialist
Location: Cambridge, MA (Opportunity to work from home 2-days per week
EF Explore America is a division of EF Education First ("EF"), a diversified global education company that has been in operation for over 55 years. EF is family-owned, has a staff of nearly 60,000 people, and operates out of 600 offices in over 100 countries around the world. As a privately held company, EF has the advantage of being flexible and able to make decisions for the long-term success of the
company. We have certainly experienced our share of travel-related obstacles and seemingly
impossible situations - but have bounced back stronger each time.
EF Explore America organizes and leads educational trips for teachers and their students across North America. At EF Explore America, we believe in one simple truth - that the world is better when people try to understand one another. Our tours help students expand their knowledge of the world around them, understand new people, places, and cultures, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident and independent. Following a period that challenged our ability to be out in the world and learn by doing, never have our teachers and their students been more ready to get back to traveling with us.
What You'll Do:
As the Tour Director Allocations Specialist, you will be responsible for all pre-tour communication with our Tour Directors nationwide. The Tour Director Allocations Specialist will have a keen eye for detail and efficiency as they work to ensure the Tour Directors receive all relevant information in a timely manner. This means managing Tour Director preparation (i.e. sending electronic and physical materials), liaising with them to make the most of our online platforms, and being a primary contact for incoming communication. Finally, you will be responsible for allocating all guides who bring our destinations to life. Guides are people who typically live in a destination and have in-depth knowledge of that city, complementing the expertise of our Tour Directors. Your daily work will change based on needs, but largely revolve around emailing and calling Tour Directors and ensuring their records are accurate.
We work with a wide range of tours for multiple EF products, and you will manage the needs and relationships between the Tour Director team, Tour Directors and the product owners for various products (EF Language Travel, EF Gap Year, Go Ahead Tours, Ultimate Break, etc.). You will be most successful in this role if you can be flexible in your day-to-day operations, are able to build strong connections with our Tour Director community and relevant stakeholders, and have excellent attention to detail.
Who You Are:
  • You have your Bachelor's Degree
  • You have 1-2 years of work experience
  • You're an exceptionally strong communicator: clear, motivating, and trustworthy
  • You're able to think critically and creatively to problem solve
  • You're able to build strong relationships externally and internally
  • You have excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • You're a driven team player with a strong work ethic
  • You have demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

Why You'll Love Working Here:
Work in our light-filled office where you'll enjoy comprehensive professional development, frequent social programming, office-wide sports leagues, and employee-run social groups (including our "EFinity" groups: Black@EF, LGBTQ+@EF, Indigenous@EF, API@EF, and Parents@EF). You can also expect:
  • Paid travel at least once a year (more as you grow with us)
  • Robust professional growth opportunities including monthly trainings, workshops, and
inspiring talks with global leaders and experts.
  • Three weeks paid vacation your first year (four weeks starting in year two) and nine paid
    holidays.
  • 25% match to your 401(k) contributions.
  • Excellent health, dental, and vision coverage, along with life and disability insurance.
  • Wellness benefits including $150 yearly fitness reimbursement.
  • EF program discounts including travel, language schools, childcare, and more.
  • Discounts at local venues and businesses.
  • Eligibility for our Workplace Flexibility Program: our pilot hybrid work model with up to
two days of remote work per week
