Position:Tooling Technician(s) Level I – III
Reports to: Tool Room Manager

Overview: Works with die maintenance/repair and production teams to follow company designated processes to perform upkeep and maintenance in an exemplary manner according to company standards.
Primary Responsibilities
· Ensure proper maintenance of all production dies to guarantee they are in optimal working condition for producing high-quality parts.
· Apply tool making skills for direct in-house maintenance of dies and collaborate with external vendors for both construction and maintenance of dies.
· Regularly repair and maintain forms and dies based on a schedule and work requests generated by the computerized maintenance management system.
· Manage schedules, negotiate timetables, monitor progress, and validate work quality with external die vendors.
· Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
· Study specifications, including blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, to visualize products and determine materials and machines for part fabrication.
· Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair dies, die components, and production tooling. Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, and set up and operate machine tools for die making and repair.
· Set up and operate machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to machine parts and verify conformance to specifications.
· Lift machined parts and securely position them on surface plates or worktables.
· Smooth flat and contoured surfaces using power grinders and assemble parts into mechanisms.
· Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, recommending design modifications for construction and function.
· Utilize calipers, micrometers, gauge pins and blocks, and various measurement equipment.
· Ensure quality parts are produced per the company's standards, production schedules, and engineering specifications.
· Position and safely clamp dies/tools, feed guides, and guarding.
· Thread metal strips from coils through pinch rollers or load dies/tools with metal blanks.
Job Requirements
· Technical/ Mechanical education
· Several years of demonstrable work experience in a similar position
· Knowledge of the English language
· Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings.
· Competent in several of the following areas: reading blueprints, pneumatics, hydraulics, machine shop equipment, metal fabrication, mechanical principles, and advanced math.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written.
· Candidate must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with loud machinery, oils and lubricants, cleaning supplies, power tools, and forklift traffic.
· Candidate must be able to do physical work which includes lifting to 50 lbs., using power tools, constant standing and walking, some bending and climbing, pushing, and pulling.
· For LEVEL III candidates, proficiency in programming and operating CNC design and AutoCAD is required.
