Overview
Tyler Union in Anniston, Alabama is seeking a Tooling and Fixture Engineer to work in our Flange Machining Shop. Establish and review manufacturing processes, fixtures, and tooling to minimize total cost and improve quality and productivity. Engineer will work under the guidance of the flange shop management to gather feedback and manufacturing improvements towards continual improvements for production processes, fixturing, and tooling. Responsibilities
  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Always adhere to Company safety rules and regulations and work safely.
  • Proactively promotes The McWane Way Principles.
  • Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wear appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.
  • Uses proper lifting and ergo techniques.
  • Work closely with Production Management to gather feedback and suggestions towards continual improvements for production processes.
  • Evaluate, design, and maintain fixture and tooling requirements to ensure they prove to be the best method of manufacturing, with priority list and timelines for completion.
  • Facilitate the document control process including upkeep of appropriate records, fixture and tooling drawings as well as maintaining approved documentation of machine, Tooling and Fixture information for specific machines.
  • Process prints and assist Production with processing documentation on process sheets.
  • Ensure cycle times are updated with supervisors and cost accounting.
  • Design and introduce equipment to error proof and/or automate processes.
  • Perform process and equipment validations in conjunction with Engineering, Quality and Maintenance.
  • Assist with the introduction of, and training for, new prints, processes, and instructions.
  • Support new product development projects by providing manufacturing feasibility and definition.
  • Deliver clear and concise written and verbal communication to management, other team members and end users.
  • Maintain familiarity with the "state of the art" in machining techniques, materials science, computer aided design solutions and mechanical engineering.
  • Manage manufacturing engineering team members, projects and priorities.
  • Understand the payback and justification of managing projects.
  • Utilize project timelines to ensure accurate and on-time projects.
  • Develop and maintain equipment production load sheets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Associates degree in related field plus equivalent experience.
  • Experience in process improvement and statistical process control (SPC) is preferred.
