Job Description
Tool Maker
An industry leader in the aluminum casting and injection molding industry, is seeking an experienced Toolmaker, to join their team in the greater Minneapolis, MN area. The Toolmaker is responsible to repair, revise, and refurbish/build molds, tooling, and fixtures by performing machining and mechanical processes, methods, and techniques. Provides support for the Production Departments and Engineering, assisting with process and product improvements. Completes other duties as assigned.
Shift: Days M-F 8-5
Pay: 27-36/hr
Responsibilities:
- Repair tools in casting machines and/or injection molding machines to ensure quick turn-around with repairs and processing as needed.
- Document issues encountered during tool repairs for tool history and continual improvement purposes.
- Operate Tool Room equipment at a medium level of competency, including CNC Mills, CNC EDMs, and WEDMs.
- Utilize MASTERCAM and PTC Creo and/or SolidWorks software to create, modify, and develop machine tool cutter paths from simple to moderately complex solid models.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to die-cast machine and/or injection mold cycling, as well as tool function within the machine.
- Complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization and production goals.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of tool repair experience in a manufacturing environment (foundry preferred).
- Proficiency in operating Tool Room equipment, including CNC Mills, CNC EDMs, and WEDMs.
- Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing issues related to die-cast machine and/or injection mold cycling, preferred
- 2-year degree in Machine Tool Technology (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to use and access drawings on CAD/CAM software, such as MASTERCAM and PTC Creo and/or SolidWorks. (required)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
