Metalex powered by UPG is a growing steel service center that has been in business for almost 60 years. Metalex is looking to hire a Tool & Die II to join our dynamic team! Successful candidates will ideally have worked in the steel industry (but not required) and have a solid level of experience with the types of specialized products and services produced by steel service centers. We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate that is eager to learn and grow in this fast-paced environment. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Works toward meeting team initiatives.
- Maintains production tools and dies, Perform die repairs at the press and in the tool room, complete Preventative Maintenance activities on the dies.
- Able to operate general tool room equipment, machining of materials associated with repairs and maintenance of the dies.
- Assist with training new operators.
- Adhere to all safety standards
- Clean and organize work areas to promote 5S and safety initiatives.
- Operation of the overhead crane to move and stage dies.
Position Requirements:
- Understands controls and instrumentation, equipment maintenance, manufacturing experience, mechanical inspection tools, tooling, safety management, problem solving, and documentation skills.
- Must be proficient in reading blueprints, using measurement tools, and standard tool room equipment/machinery set-up and operations.
- Experience working with a variety of steels.
- Time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with trouble shooting and root cause analysis, to implement permanent corrective actions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for use in a team environment.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays when workloads exceed normal
