Job description

Summary: Responsible for courteously and effectively closing real estate transactions including performing all of the necessary tasks leading up to and taking place after the actual closing. Must maintain close contact with customers through the closing process and execute all appropriate documents.

All employees are expected to protect the information and assets of the organization through heightened awareness of information security, cyber security, and risk management best practices, as well as complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Responsibilities: include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Pre-closing: Understand all applicable software, policies, procedures, and underwriter guidelines. Obtain payoff information for mortgages, judgments, liens, taxes, etc. Enter proper figures to prepare settlement statement, closing disclosures and prepare checks. Work with examiners to ensure any curative work to clear title including ordering CPLS, legal work and logging policy jackets is done prior to closing and update title search prior to disbursement. Review and have closing instructions approved.
  • Schedule closing time and location and accurately and efficiently perform closing to the satisfaction and comfort level of all involved.
  • Post-closing: Accurately and timely disburse funds in accordance with instructions. Update title search and record appropriate closing documents. Follow all post-closing instructions from the parties as well as internal company post-closing procedures for applying payments, imaging, final policy preparation, etc.
  • Market and promote strong customer service to increase profits and order count.
  • May perform searches as needed.
  • Prepare title commitments and policies as needed.

Education/Experience:

· High School diploma or equivalent.

· Approval to do closings via the company’s internal approval process.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, co-workers or vendors.

· Must have good communication skills.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

· Must understand and comply with company policies and procedures.

· Must have the ability to maintain a friendly, helpful and courteous attitude when working with customers or co-workers under diverse conditions.

· Must have the ability to accurately and quickly complete standard mathematical calculations.

· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.

· Ability to use a calculator, computer and applicable software.
