Job Summary: Performs preventative maintenance, oil changes, tire rotations, battery, and filter replacements on all Clear Lake City Water Authority owned vehicles and mechanical equipment. - Inspect vehicles for any potential issues or malfunctions
- Use power tools and other equipment to complete maintenance and repair tasks
- Follow established procedures and guidelines for vehicle service and maintenance
- Keep accurate records of all services performed on vehicles
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Reviews and takes action on routine inspection reports of vehicles and equipment, provided by coworkers
2. Liaise with coworkers to determine automotive requirements and communicate vehicular defects and/or problems
3. Maintains all vehicle and equipment service records; keep an accurate log of all work performed in both physical and electronic file systems.
4. Coordinates and performs delivery/pickup of vehicles to and from CLCWA and repair facilities.
5. Mounts, balances, and rotates tires.
6. Checking tire pressure and filling tires with air as needed to manufacturer specifications
7. Performs oil changes and minor preventative maintenance on vehicles. Draining the oil from a vehicle and replacing it to manufacturer specifications
8. Topping off other fluids, including brake, power steering and windshield wiper fluid
9. Inspecting the engine block and underbody for leaks and potential issues
10. Installing new car parts, such as air filters, oil filters, windshield wipers and batteries
11. Lubricating moving parts as necessary, including those in the engine and wheel bearings and ensuring the engine is kept clean throughout servicing
12. Performs minor paint, and minor body work on all Clear Lake City Water Authority owned vehicles
13. Small engine repairs to lawnmowers, weed eaters, chain saws, pumps, etc.
14. Maintain and clean garage equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times
15. Performs minor welding as needed.
16. Unloads incoming supplies with backhoe and forklift
17. Pours used motor oil from the citizens and shop into container for recycling
18. Serves as designated “emergency personnel” reporting to work site during declared emergencies
19. Assist utility crews as needed.
20. Adhere to company work safety policies
21. Performs other related duties as required
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Frequently encounters dirt and dust, noise and vibration, fumes and odors and wetness/humidity. May be frequently exposed to mechanical, chemical and electrical hazards. The position is located in an office, shop and outdoors plant environment. The incumbent frequently lifts up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 90lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Work days are Monday – Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm. This position does not generally require long hours and weekend work, but it may be necessary on occasion.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification: A high school diploma or equivalent is essential. Minimum of 1 years’ experience as a Tire and Lube Technician essential, 2 years preferred. Class B Commercial driver’s license strongly preferred. ASE Certification preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Minor welding experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Previous experience in automotive repair or maintenance preferred
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and automotive diagnostics
- Familiarity with power tools and equipment used in vehicle maintenance
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
· Skills in the repair of small engines and mechanical equipment
· Knowledge of MS Office products Excel, Word, and Outlook to maintain fleet reports
· Ability to maintain accurate vehicle records in both physical and electronic files.
· Knowledge of mechanics and ability to communicate mechanical problems.
· A valid drivers license and the ability to work legally in the US
· Ability to maintain a good, insurable driving record required.
· Ability to read shop and technical manuals
· Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, write maintenance reports
· Ability to operate backhoes, forklift, and car lifts
· Ability to operate welding equipment
· An aptitude for mechanical diagnosis and repair
· Demonstrated experience with servicing vehicles
· Passing a drug screening and criminal background check
· Time management and organizational skills as well as hand-eye coordination
· Effective communication and customer service skills
· The physical ability to perform all tasks related to the position of Lube Technician, such as bending and reaching, standing for long periods of time and lifting over 60 pounds
As a Lube Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper maintenance and functioning of vehicles. Your expertise in automotive service and repair will contribute to the overall customer satisfaction and safety.
