The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Thrift Store Driver for Stillwater, Oklahoma.
JobSummary
Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-updonations and/or deliver merchandise to customers; operates the truck incompliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations;lifts, carries, loads and unloads variety of donations including furniture,appliances, clothing, etc.; ensures the safety, security, and accountability ofthe vehicle and donations at all times; assists in performing work in the Familystore and warehouse.

Organization (25%)
Regularly confers with the dispatcher to maintain awarenessof scheduled pick-ups of donations in accordance with the established policy.
Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled forthe correct day of the week and geographical location.
Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to savetime and fuel consumption
Assists Truck Helper in lifting and stacking donations inthe truck
Assists Truck Helper in unloading the truck to the warehouse
Customer Service (25%)
Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures theaccuracy and completeness of the same.
Maintains good relationships with donors to promote afavorable image of The Salvation Army
Delivers appliances and/or furniture as requested bycustomer
Drives to the dump and metal recycling center to dispose ofnonuse able donations
Supervision (30%)
Ensures the truck meets the scheduled maintenance andperforms operation in accordance with established standards.
Drivers carefully and observes/complies with all trafficsigns and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space
Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use
Fills vehicle with fuel in accordance with state gasolineregulations and The Salvation Army standards
Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy andcompleteness of the same.
Arrives at destination according to schedule, or telephonesahead when severe delays occur.
OtherResponsibilities
Assists in loading the bail truck
Assists in cleaning and maintaining the warehouse andloading dock area
Assists in working in all areas of The Salvation Army FamilyStore operations as needed.
Performs special projects as needed
Performs otherduties as assigned.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the assigned geographical area
Ability to organize pick-up tickets, and to schedule routein a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with coworkers
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Educationand Experience
High School Diploma or GED, AND one year experience driving aheavy duty truck or large van, OR any equivalent combination of training andexperience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Certifications/Licenses
Valid Driver's License

Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving thelifting and carrying of heavy objects

WorkingConditions
Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to theoutdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weathersuch as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirtand the like.
